Write to hello@onesymbol.app. A person reads every message, usually within two working days.
Reporting a mistake in an entry
This is the most useful message you can send. Name the entry and the sentence, and say what is wrong. Every entry lists its sources so the claim can be traced. Corrections are made to the entry itself and noted at the foot of it.
Why only one entry a day
Because the whole point is that it ends. There is no feed, no badge and no notification designed to pull you back. Subscribers can keep a reading streak, which only they can see. One entry, read or not, and tomorrow another.
What you get without paying
Today's entry and the previous seven days, and five archive searches a month. Paying opens the full archive, the long reads, saving, unlimited search and streaks.
Billing, refunds and cancelling
Subscriptions bought through an app store are handled by that store: cancel or request a refund in your app store account, not here. If something has gone wrong with a payment, write and it will be sorted out.
Where the images come from
Every image is a real object held by a museum or library and published under a public domain or CC0 licence, credited beneath the image. None of them is generated by a machine.
Saving and exporting your symbols
Saved symbols are on the Saved screen (saving is part of a subscription), and can be exported to a file with their titles, dates and credits from Settings.
Deleting your account
In Settings, choose Delete account, or write to hello@onesymbol.app and ask. The account, the saved symbols, the likes, the reading record and the settings all go with it. What is stored in the first place is set out on the Privacy page.
Reading in the dark, or not
One Symbol is dark by default and has a parchment light mode. Both are on the Settings screen. Text is set in relative units, so it grows with your browser's text-size setting.
